Equipment and Facilities Technician

JOB SUMMARY

The Equipment and Facilities Technician is responsible for maintenance, care, and efficient operation of all equipment and facilities used by the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the daily workflow, scheduling, and assignments of the equipment and facilities department.
  • Inspects and performs maintenance on assigned equipment and facilities.
  • Ensures assigned facilities and equipment are ready for regular business and special events.
  • Maintains files of warranties, records, licenses, inspections, service agreements, and contracts for various pieces of equipment.
  • Maintains the inventory, storage, and distribution of equipment.
  • Provides recommendations for purchases of new equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Basic understanding of or ability to quickly learn the equipment and facilities to be maintained.
  • Must be able to electrically troubleshoot manufacturing and facility equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Basic understanding of HVAC equipment, operations and preventive maintenance.
  • Must be familiar with explosion proof equipment.
  • Strong electrical experience highly desired.
  • Comprehension of Class 1 Division 2 and Class 1 Division 1 control rooms.
  • Ability to maintain basic records and warranties.
  • Ability to understand written directions in manuals and on manufacturer websites.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software as required to complete and maintain records.
  • High degree of attention to detail and self-directedness.
  • High degree of problem solving skills.
  • Effectively manage time by balancing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with others.
  • Must be able to meet production standards in a fast paced work environment by performing tasks quickly and efficiently.
  • Understanding of proper and safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Strong documentation and computer skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Thoroughness.

SAFETY & HAZARDOUS MATERIAL HANDLING: 

  • Understanding of proper and safe handling of hazardous materials
  • Accountable for maintaining safe working environment
  • Adhere to company’s emergency policies, including but not limited to chemical spill response
  • Entire Maintenance Department will take in-house training May 2022 by a NC certificated HW instructor. Each employee will receive a certificate from North Carolina.
  • Must successfully complete in-house forklift training certification and fire extinguishing training with Facilities Manager
  • It should be noted that OBX was considered a large waste generator mid year 2021.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

  • May be required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 50 pounds
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time (4-6 hours) with frequent kneeling and bending.
  • Working in limited climate-controlled facilities and experience extreme heat or cold.
  • Work with heavy fumes, plants, airborne particles and chemicals
  • Must be comfortable working with and around heavy machinery
  • May experience moderately high noise levels
